An occupational therapist is a professional who has completed an accredited entry-level occupational therapy program recognized by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), its predecessor organizations, or the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), or an equivalent international program.
They must also complete the supervised fieldwork experience required by their program.
To practice, they must pass a nationally recognized entry-level examination for occupational therapists and meet the licensing, certification, or registration requirements established by their state.
