Searching
There are two methods for searching the Health Providers DB: the Search Field for simple lookups and the Search Page for more advanced queries.
Search Field
The Search Field is located at the top right of the Health Providers DB app. You can search for health providers by their NPI number or name here.
The results will return a list of health providers for individuals and entities matching the search filter provided.
You can use the Search Page to select either Individuals only, Organizations only, or All.
The search field performs a full-text search on the individuals’ first and last names and the organization name.
For instance, if “Man” is entered as the search filter, profiles with “Man” as the root of the first, last, or organization name are returned. For example, people with the last name Manning are returned.
You can use the Search Page to specify an Exact match rather than Full-text.
Search Page
The Search Page is the more advanced search method.
Click the Search menu item in the app drawer to open the Search Page.
Like the Search Field, you can search by the health provider’s NPI number, the individual’s first and last name, or the organization’s name.
You can specify whether to use an Exact match or a Full-text match from the Match name drop-down menu.
Additionally, you can also include nicknames in the search. For example, if the search filter is “Robert,” health providers named “Bob” will also be returned.
Health Providers DB uses the nicknames as maintained on GitHub.
