do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) work under the direct supervision of licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to&nbsp;provide treatment and support to individuals with speech, language, and communication disorders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their duties include implementing treatment plans, conducting&nbsp;screening tests,&nbsp;assisting with assessments, collecting and recording client data, and performing clerical tasks related to therapy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SLPAs do not diagnose disorders, develop treatment plans, or provide counseling, as those activities are exclusively within the scope of an SLP.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SLPAs must work under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP, who is responsible for their training, guidance, and oversight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-slpas-do\">What SLPAs Do<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Provide Treatment:<\/strong>&nbsp;They implement therapy plans designed by the SLP, which may involve teaching communication techniques, using alternative communication devices, or working on swallowing skills.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assist with Assessments:<\/strong>&nbsp;SLPAs can administer and score screening tests and progress monitoring tools under the guidance and training of the SLP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Collect Data:<\/strong>&nbsp;They meticulously record client progress, observe interactions, and gather data for the SLP to interpret and use in reports.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perform Clerical Duties:<\/strong>&nbsp;SLPAs manage materials, schedule activities, maintain equipment, and assist with other administrative functions related to the therapy department.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Support Other Activities:<\/strong>&nbsp;They can support the SLP in research, in-service training, and public relations programs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Observe Meetings:<\/strong>&nbsp;SLPAs may observe client and family meetings, such as&nbsp;Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings,&nbsp;as observers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-slpas-do-not-do-nbsp\">What SLPAs Do Not Do&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Diagnose:<\/strong>&nbsp;They do not conduct diagnostic tests, perform evaluations, or interpret test results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Develop Treatment Plans:<\/strong>&nbsp;The SLP is responsible for creating or modifying individualized education or treatment plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Counsel:<\/strong>&nbsp;They do not provide counseling to clients or their families regarding speech and language
