What do Physician Assistants do?

A Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides medical care under the supervision of a physician, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering tests, and prescribing medications. 

To become a PA, one must earn a master’s degree from an accredited program and obtain a state license. PAs work in diverse medical settings, conducting physical exams, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care.  

Physician Assistant Responsibilities 

  • Patient care: Examine patients, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations.
