Medicare Opt-out

HealthProviders DB imports the Medicare Opt-out Affidavits from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) monthly, so the database is always up to date.

The Medicare Opt-out Affidavits data is normalized, aggregated, and matched with the Healthcare Providers’ Profile.

You should verify Medicare Opt-out before each calendar quarter begins, as a participating provider must submit their opt-out affidavit at least 30 days prior to the first day of the quarter.

This means a provider’s opt-out status would begin on the first day of that quarter.

Non-participating providers can opt out anytime, but the effective date will be when they sign the affidavit.

An opt-out status lasts two years and automatically renews unless the provider notifies Medicare otherwise.

The CMS has a Provider Opt-Out Affidavits Look-up Tool, but with HealthProviders DB, you know the provider’s Medicaid Opt-out status directly on the Healthcare Provider’s Profile.

Additionally, the provider’s opt-out status is included in the Exclusions Report.
