Health Providers DB profiles include the Medicare Opt-out from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
You should verify Medicare Opt-out before each calendar quarter begins, as a participating provider must submit their opt-out affidavit at least 30 days prior to the first day of the quarter.
This means a provider’s opt-out status would begin on the first day of that quarter.
Non-participating providers can opt-out anytime, but the effective date will be when they sign the affidavit.
An opt-out status lasts two years and automatically renews unless the provider notifies Medicare otherwise.
