What do Endodontics do?

Endodontists are dental specialists who focus on the treatment of the pulp and root system of teeth.

Endodontists utilize specialized tools and techniques, including microscopes, ultrasonic devices, and nickel-titanium instruments, to perform these procedures with precision and care.

They also collaborate with general dentists to ensure their patients receive comprehensive dental care.

They perform procedures to diagnose, treat, and preserve natural teeth that have been affected by:

Infection: Bacterial infections that enter the tooth through cavities or trauma.

Trauma: Injuries that damage the tooth’s pulp or root.

Cracks or fractures: Damage to the tooth’s structure that allows bacteria to enter.

Procedures Performed by Endodontists

Root canal treatment: Removal of the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfection of the root canal, and filling it with a permanent material.

Retreatment of root canals: Removal of previous root canal fillings and repeating the procedure if the initial treatment was unsuccessful.

Apicoectomy: Surgical removal of the infected tissue at the tip of the root.

Root resorption treatment: Repair of damaged or dissolving tooth roots.

Endodontic surgery: Advanced procedures to treat complex or unusual endodontic problems.
