What do General Care Registered Respiratory Therapists do?

General Care Registered Respiratory Therapists assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders from infants to the elderly. 

Their duties include administering pulmonary function tests and blood gas analysis to diagnose conditions, providing oxygen therapy, managing ventilators, administering lung medications, and educating patients and their families on disease management and equipment use.

Patient Care and Monitoring: Monitoring patients’ progress, clearing airways, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and providing humidity and aerosol therapy. 

Patient and Family Education: Instructing patients and their families on how to use respiratory equipment and manage conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 

Collaboration: Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute treatment plans.
